Hey, Guy? My hair's getting kind of long... Could you come cut it for me? I'd do it myself, but I can't really see back there...

Ion, can I talk to you? It's important.

[Now that those are out of the way, Luke rests his chin in his hand and stares off to the side, lost in thought. The thing he wanted to talk to Ion about... It's been weighing heavily on his mind ever since he heard it. Luke isn't sure what to think of it, or even how to feel about it. There's a sort of happiness inside him, sure, but... he can't deny the hesitation and confusion he feels. So, after a few minutes, he opens up the journal again to ask the general populace:]

Then I... guess I wouldn't mind helping you. It sounds scary, but if you need it to survive...

[Her expression hasn't changed much so far, but that? That gets an actual smile.]

You are most kind to offer, Luke. If you would be so inclined, I am willing to meet with you so I may better explain the process?

Uh, sure. Where do you want to meet?

[It takes her a few moments to respond following Guy's interruption.]

I do not suppose you would mind meeting near the fountain in the center of the village... hm. Perhaps, in an hour?

[Guy said something to her, didn't he. Yeah, he saw that interruption down there, even though it got locked away. He'll just have to beat him up later or something.]

... Okay, sure.

Very well. I shall see you then.

[And so she closes her journal and goes off to meet with Guy. But, regardless of how that meeting turns out, in an hour she'll be waiting near the fountain all the same.]

[An hour later, Luke's calmed down over that little interruption. He goes out to the fountain, a coat around him with his hands in his pockets, and looks around for Cheyenne. It doesn't take him long to notice her, and he can't help but smile a little.]

Cheyenne!

[Seeing as Guy deemed the procedure safe, Cheyenne probably won't even mention the exact reason for the hour delay unless Luke asks... although it looks like she's been out here for awhile, given all the snow in her hair.]

Hello Luke. I hope my request for a delay was not too convenient for you?

[Luke won't ask, either; He just figured Guy had a talk with her or something. Yeah, Guy, he sees what you did there.]

Nah. It helped me calm down a little, that's for sure.

That is good to hear. [She smiles for a moment, but it doesn't stay on her face for long. This is serious business stuff, after all.]

Would you prefer I explain the process in more detail, or would you be all right with a demonstration? Keep in mind, of course, that I am unable to show you my powers without feeding on you at the same time...

I really hate to cut in on a private conversation, miss, but before you meet with Luke could you explain to me in greater detail exactly what this entails?

[Head-tilt. Now she was talking to someone else? Hm.]

Certainly.

I am an illusionist, so called because I use illusions in order to feed. When I look into the eyes of another creature, they are pulled into an illusion and remain as such until eye contact is lost. It is through these illusions that the soul becomes vulnerable and I am able to feed from it.

As I previously mentioned to Luke, illusionists see the soul in four parts. Although my kind usually feeds from the potency of a soul, doing so is very dangerous for the other creature. Instead, I feed from the Power of a soul, which I suppose is comparable to the stamina a given creature has. One only needs to take a short nap or eat a meal to replenish it.

[A pause.] I am more than happy to answer any questions you might have, but in return, might I inquire as to why you are interested?

[And Guy bumps up the filter to 75% so Luke can't listen in, because he's just that much of a jerk.]

I'm a very close friend of Luke's; sometimes he jumps into things without thinking, and I worry about him. I realize this isn't any of my business, but thank you for indulging me.

Would you mind trying this out on me first? [A servant is supposed to do this sort of thing for his master, after all.]

[Guy's just being the best mommy he can be, obviously.]

I understand. The soul is not something to be considered lightly, after all.

[A pause. She's thinking about this.] I would not mind doing so, if it would put your own mind at ease. However, might it simply be more convenient if you were to come along with Luke when he meets with me?

Again -I really do hate to be so suspicious- but I've got absolutely no reason to trust your explanation. If you're lying, I'd rather it be me suffering the consequences than him.

I'd just rather see for myself, first. If you're telling the truth, I'll gladly eat my words and let the two of you be.

I am accustomed to such suspicions. Thus far I have found that most people are initially distrustful of a creature who claims they are capable of safely feeding on a human soul.

Hm. If I were to ask Luke to meet sometime in the next hour, that would leave more than enough time to meet with you beforehand. That is, if such an arrangement would be all right with you?

Perfectly fine with me, I can leave right away.

Is the fountain in the shopping center all right?

That will be fine, yes.

I imagine it will be much easier for you to find me than I you, given I am somewhat blind. I should be the only one there wearing a blindfold.

Got it. I'll be right there.

[And Guy really will be, thank goodness his house is so close.]

[Cheyenne's home is a little bit farther away, so he'll probably have a few minutes of wait until the girl wearing a blindfold shows up. For someone who claims to eat souls, she doesn't look very intimidating... and the pink coat helps nothing.]

[Hey, he's fought battle lolis that tried to blast his head off with magic. Guard is still up.]

Miss illusionist, I presume? Sorry, I didn't catch your name. I'm Guy.

That is correct. [She turns to look at Guy as he speaks up, giving a polite curtsy.] And I am Cheyenne.

You mentioned previously that you wished for me to feed from your soul before I met with Luke. If that is still the case, I would recommended finding somewhere to sit. Harmless though my illusions may be, they can be a bit disorientating for those who have never experienced them. I would so dislike for you to fall and injure yourself accidentally.

Not a problem. [Guy has a seat on a nearby bench when it occurs to him that there could actually be a problem after all.]

Err- You don't have to touch the person while you do this, right?

Not at all, no. [She frowns.]

It would be rather unfortunate were that the case, seeing as my kind is incapable of touching other creatures... but that will not be an issue, as the process is done through sight alone.

All right then. [...he's not quite sure what else is needed of him, so.]

Uh, I guess I'm ready.
