[Now that Luke can stay awake for more than an hour, he'd really like to get back to the people of Auldrant as well as the friends he made here in Luceti. He still can't hear anything, but... well, maybe no one has to know that. As long as they don't try talking to him, he'll be fine.

And being bedridden for these past few days has been extremely boring.

So, he grabs his journal and writes.]

Hey... I'm back.

[... Yup. Not much to expand on there. So let's go on.]

Anyone have any good stories to tell? Or... Actually, what's the most fun you've ever had? Here or in your world.

[Guy balls up Luke's scarf and tosses it at his face in response. He needs to change also -since he's obviously going with him- and points to himself and the jacket he laid out for Luke before heading back down the stairs.]

[asdfk;ldfj HEY

Luke has a bit of a delayed reaction, but he manages to catch the scarf just before it hits his face. Oh, jeez, he's going to be a wonder if they have a snowball fight, huh?

He peeks around the scarf and gives a bit of an annoyed look, but then waves his hands to indicate that Guy should get going before he slides the jacket on and wraps the scarf around his neck. After some thought, he realizes that his ears probably need protection, too, so he rummages around the closet to try and look for some ear muffs. SUCCESS!

But when Guy comes back, he'll find Luke sitting on the floor and wrestling with the band that connects the muffs together. He could never quite figure out how those stupid things uncoil.]

[Guy comes back all bundled up too and- snerk. Wow Luke, wtg.

He heads over and just plucks the things from his hands, untwisting them easily and crouching to settle them over Luke's ears.]

[The look he gives just screams "I could've done it myself!", but then it gets ruined by his smile as he stands up and heads for the door.]

Come on, Guy!

[He practically RUNS out the door and down the hall. ffff, at this rate he'll tucker himself out as soon as he gets outside, that kid.]

Luke- [Hey, HEY, don't run-!

Rrrgh. Guy heads off after Luke; hopefully he's not so tired that he'll just slump down on the front steps or anything.]

[Hey Guy

Hey Guy guess what

Once you step out the front door, there'll be a snowball flying towards your face.]

[PAFF]

...Luke, you'd better run. [Guy stoops to gather up some snow, GLARING.]

[HUH WHAT WAS THAT SORRY I COULDN'T HEAR YOU

Also, he's laughing a bit too much to notice at first. Oh yes, it was definitely worth it to rush outside, even if his body's shouting out in protest.]

[But once he does look up and notice Guy in the process of making a snowball, and with a GLARE at that, Luke stops his laughter and stares with a wide-eyed "You wouldn't!" look. Seriously, would you throw that thing at a crippled boy?

...

RUNNING.]

[YES HE WOULD.

Guy winds back and hurls the mass of snow at Luke's back. At least it's not packed all that tightly?]

[Snow is ridiculous to run around in, you know that? Luke nearly slips just from running, and the blow to his back makes him stumble and fall right to his hands and knees.

He'll just toss a GLARE over his shoulder. At least HE got you in the face.]

I think I still won that!

[Like Guy was just standing around as you fell over, Luke. He made another snowball and now THIS one is headed for YOUR face.]

[Okay so Luke wasn't quite expecting Guy to keep it up, and his reactions are a bit delayed in the first place, so Luke can only cut himself off and give himself a second to have the perfect OH SHIT face before- PAFF.]

A-GHRK-

[Smirk. Guy prepares another snowball, but he holds off on throwing it in order to gloat. He tosses it a couple times and strolls a bit closer so he can lord it over Luke properly.]

You should know better, Luke.

[Coming closer was a mistake, Guy, because while Luke had been thrown down and forward thanks to that snowball, he uses that to hide his movements as he readies a well packed snowball.

He can't hear Guy coming, and he can't hear the gloating, but he'll give it a few more seconds before he SPINS AROUND AND THROWS THAT SUCKER AT HIM]

[And Guy had expected Luke to sulk for a little longer so he takes the snowball in the face. Again. It's about time to drag Luke down into the snow and start rubbing the stuff into his hair; it's actually kind of slushy, what with it being only just barely cold enough for snow and all, so hopefully Luke will get nice and soaked because of it.]

[Nice and soaked and cold. Luke lets out what seems to be a quiet shriek and a verbal keysmash as he shoots his hands up to flail at his hair and try to get the snow out; he can't exactly hear what kind of noises he's making, after all, so he can't just shut himself up or anything. But among those noises:]

G-Guy!

[OH GODDAMMIT THE SNOW DROPPED INTO HIS SCARF NOW IT'S ON THE BACK OF HIS NECK NOOOO]

[After some more torture Guy shows mercy and gives Luke a gentle shove away. This is why you don't pick on someone perfectly healthy and bigger to boot.]

I hope you've learned your lesson.

[YOU ARE SUCH A JERK.

The gloating goes unheard, and Luke flops on his side away from Guy, having thrown his scarf and ear muffs off once they got soaked, too. He gives shuddering breaths, and a few seconds later, those breaths become laughter.

Just like old times. Luke was much more of a sore loser back then and would probably fight back more, but right now, he doesn't feel like moving very much. That last flail attack took the last of his fighting energy out of him.]

[Guy notices both the laughter and the exhaustion, so he ducks inside for a brief moment.

When he jogs back out minutes later it's with two mugs of hot chocolate. ~~God he loves that microwave thing.~~ He has a seat next to Luke and nudges him with his knee, holding out his mug.]

[You would love that microwave thing. Once Luke is nudged and he looks over his shoulder, he briefly wonders how in the world Guy suddenly made cups of hot chocolate appear in his hands and considers magic, but then rules that out as both impossible and kiddie, so he sits himself up and takes the mug, absently gesturing their sign for "thanks".]

Maybe one day I'll feel for your steps instead of listening for them.

[Despite the statement, it isn't a bitter one, and he even smiles a little before he takes a sip of his hot chocolate. Okay, so maybe he loves that microwave thing too.]

[Guy reaches over to write -slowly- on Luke's arm instead of his palm, as it is currently preoccupied.]

Y-O-U-L-L H-E-A-R A-G-A-I-N

[He punctuates the sentence with a chiding flick to his arm and a stern look. Even if Luke doesn't get his hearing back eventually, Guy knows there's at least one man in the village who can fix Luke's ears.

Or beneath the village anyway.

And if Guy has to get down on his hands and knees and beg John for his help, he'll do it. Luke has to hear again. Has to.]

[It's nice to hear Guy have such confidence in him, and it makes him smile in his mug, though the flick makes him open one eye in a squint and FROWN. Soon enough, however, he wilts under the stern look and takes a few more sips before he lowers the mug again.]

... Maybe. But if I don't, I should... make the best of it, right? [It's always so hard to make the best of things when it involves him, but he has to try this time. Not being able to hear depresses him much more than he thought it would.]

[Guy recognizes that funk and he hates it. Luke is such a pessimist sometimes. Though there's really no brief way to explain why Guy is so confident; maybe he'll write a letter or something.

...Well. That, and half of the confidence he has comes from his gut. He knows Luke can pull through just about anything.

Guy just shakes his head and takes a swig of his cooling hot chocolate, punching Luke lightly in the arm. Go ahead and mope if you want, you punk, Guy will keep up enough spirits for the both of you.]
