023 [Action] (Fourth Wall)
[Well. Luke wasn't expecting to pop up in the middle of the plaza relatively unharmed. Just a moment ago the Malnosso were preparing him for... he didn't want to think about it, really. But now he's here? He escaped somehow? And... there seems to be a huge crowd of people around him.
Huh.
Right now, he just wants to get home. So, he takes in a deep breath, then begins to try pushing his way through the mass amount of newcomers.]
Sorry - Coming through - Would you watch it?! - Hey!
[Gosh, this is giving him the strangest sense of deja-vu for some reason.]

Gah - Sorry, I -
[Wait.
Dat voice?
Luke blinks, then looks up as... Guy? Steadies him from his collision. He didn't really need it, but Luke, even after all this time, is still so used to Guy doing things like that that he doesn't even care.
But he does look kind of confused.]
Hey, how did you... [He looks back behind him. Did Guy just jump ahead of him...?]
Leeeet's doooo the Tiiiiime Waaaaaarp~
Whoa, whoa, wait up, Luke, hah... the least you could do is tell me where we're going--
[Oh good, he stopped. Or ran into someone, apparently. Guy looks aside to get a good glimpse of the person that Luke was currently apologizing to...
...and stops short.
What. The. Hell.]
It's just a jump to the left! 1/2
[And then he hears his own voice and he looks up and over Luke's shoulder and just. Stares for a minute. Because as much as he's gotten used to duplicates--not the replica kind, but real, honest to god duplicates--he's never really met himself. So it's kind of... Odd. Even if he's been mentally prepared for the possibility for a while, it's not just something you shrug off without noting it.]
...Ha... [Weirder than he thought. But he manages a weak grin which turns into a slightly more real one as the humor of the situation catches up to him.]

Look's like you've got a pretty good looking escort already, Luke. [And he winks. Because calling yourself handsome is totally not at all weird or narcissistic or flirty or weird.]
no subject
...
A replica?
And then Guy opens his mouth and calls himself good looking, and Luke can't help narrowing his eyes a little in exasperation and reaching up to swat his hand away.]
You're obnoxious. [Now, let's go to the... first... Guy...? Because he looks weirded out even for Guy, and even though Luke is just as weirded out, it can't be as bad as what the blond's feeling.]
I didn't know you had a replica... [He'll just. Reach up to grip Guy's shoulder, just to give him some bro-support.]
no subject
[It's him. It's him.
How the heck is he looking at a copy of himself... Right down to the way he held himself, the cock of the head, the grin on his face... and the wink, and dear Lorelei did he just get complimented by himself...
Guy's not quite sure how to feel about this.
He stares blankly for a moment. How the heck is Luke taking this so calmly? Sure, yeah, this is... well, a different Luke, but the Luke he remembers would be freaking out at anything this... bizzare... and having a Luke so drastically different than the other was unsettling at the moment.
He starts at Luke's touch and quickly shrugs it off, his posture tensing. Someone has had a very long day and is not happy.]
A repli-- What? No, of course I don't. I didn't think you COULD replicate people... [If he'd been copied, surely he would have remembered it... And didn't Jade say that was forbidden, anyways?
Sorry, Luke. As much as he wants to just accept all this and figure something out, he is REALLY WEIRDED OUT RIGHT NOW.]
1/2
[That seems so long ago.]
[Guy keeps his smile though, as Luke comforts the other one.]
They can't program replicas with memories, Luke. And if they could, I doubt they'd waste mine on memories of changing your sheets when you wet the bed at night.
[The most jerktastic of friends.]

I'm not a replica. If anything, I'm just from... A different point in time, most likely. Possibly an alternate world. I was talking to Natalia earlier-- [No he shouldn't get into complicated explanations. Luke isn't dumb, but it's easier to stick to simplifying.]
There are other places like Luceti, nexuses between worlds. The one I'm from is more... Easy access. Going between the Astral Plane and your own world is normal--even visiting other worlds. I've heard of others more like this place. The place I'm from, you meet alternates from other worlds and timelines not infrequently. There are a few people from other versions of Auldrant even, not replicas, but the same people. You've heard of alternate universe theory, Luke?
[Because he knows he himself--his other self--will follow the explanation.]
It's that. Most likely I'll be pulled back to the Astral Plane sooner or later. I'm not sure if I'll be able to return--if I'm right about nexus worlds like this, it's probably unlikely. But I'm glad I've had a chance to run into both of you, actually, while I'm here.

WORST BEST FRIEND EVER
Yeah Luke doesn't even care about the fact that Guy 1 shrugged off his hand because now Guy 2 just embarrassed him and UUUUGH
He will just walk the hell right over and give a backhanded punch to the shoulder.]
Sh-Shut up about that! I stopped doing that a long time ago!
2/2
Okay okay right, now he'll just listen to Guy explain like he's so good at doing. It's a little hard to understand... but with him being here, and him knowing about other worlds, he can slowly get a clear idea of what's going on here. He's still got a frown on his face, though he's relaxed a little to listen. Yes, Guy 1, actually listen, and not complain about not understanding.
The part about the alternate universe theory makes his frown deepen, before his eyebrows raise a little with realization. A long time ago, he met someone who was an alternate form of Ion. Noct... He still remembers him. It's with that in mind that he seems to understand a little easier, and he nods once.
... But then Guy says he'll probably leave, and his frown leaves entirely to look surprised, and even a touch sad.]
Pulled back? W... Wait, you can't go! I only just got to see you again...!
[He seems a little distressed. Maybe... Maybe it's obvious, to Guy 2 maybe, that he hasn't seen Guy in a very long time.]
WHOOPS guess who died for a few days there.
But hey, sitting back and listening. To. Himself. Wow, this is odd on so many levels.
Guy has had no experience with this idea of alternate reality. So congrats, he's a bit in the dark for once, especially without details to back it up. But the idea does makes some manner of sense, even in the more simplistic terms. As confusing as it is, if this really was an opening or gateway for different universes and timelines to intersect, then that would explain the presence of duplicates.
Although he didn't quite want to think about the consequences that might result from it... or how stable that this gateway was. If he - well, his other self - was correct in his theory, then there was no telling when or how they could vanish, or if they would remember anything.
Oh joys. That headache of his isn't getting any better, trying to process all this. He crosses his arms, his gaze flitting towards the ground.]
Hnn.
It could make sense in theory, I suppose. I'm afraid I haven't the slightest idea about alternate reality theory myself, but seeing as I'm not quite as integrated as the citizens here... well, I take it that means my stay is temporary as well. [He casts a somber glance at Luke.] Sorry.
[Attention back to the one explaining now:] You sound like you know what you're talking about, if anything else. So enlighten me. If you're used to traveling in such a manner, then I understand why you'd be here. But why pull multiple versions of the same person? Doesn't that risk some manner of-- I don't know -- a warping of the different timelines? I apologize if this isn't quite something you've been able to figure out, but it seems you've had some sort of experience with this.
[AKA: should he even be talking to you right now, other version of himself?]
<3
[Guy 2... Er, Guy places a hand on Luke's shoulder, trying to calm and reassure with an easy going smile.]
I'll--we'll stick around as long as we can, alright?
[In the meantime he looks over Luke's shoulder at his other self, shrugging a little.]
On the Plane it doesn't matter just meeting people. It's like... A place enclosed--you know? It doesn't affect timelines directly just to see yourself from another point. The tricky part is... Well if you tell someone from the past what's going to happen and they try to alter the future. It can... It has changed the world. I've seen it. Timelines diverge. Worst case, you destroy the world. So talking's fine, information is kinda more another matter.
Don't worry, I don't plan on telling you who you marry or anything.
[Seeing as he hasn't even dated anyone this would be a difficult piece of info to impart but no one said he was above trolling himself.]

He presses his lips together and lowers his head, even as the other Guy rests a hand on his shoulder. Call him selfish, but he wants both of them, or even one, to stay here longer. He's missed his best friend so much, and a lot of things have happened ever since Guy first left Luceti. It'd be nice to talk and just... let him listen, or give advice, or... just be Guy.
Oh god there's a stupid lump in his throat. Dammit.
... Which is why his voice has a bit of a crack to it when he lifts his head in surprise and yells:]
Wait, you - You got married?!
God, I'm bad at this... HI GUYS.
Well, that's a low blow. What, don't tell me I really decided to pick things up from Jade over the years?
I'm not sure whether I should be impressed or disappointed!
[He's not going to bother wondering if his other self is serious or not. If sharing information was the delicate matter of this conversation, then he wouldn't be so stupid as to diverge o something that serious. Except for the sake of messing with people's heads.]
SUP
[Guy laughs awkwardly at his other self's rather too perceptive comment--maybe he has spent way too much time with Peony and Jade these days... It's a little scary to think they've rubbed off on him. Oh well. He looks down at Luke, expression softening fondly. He tries to keep the pain out of the smile.]
That'd be telling. But you don't think I'm going to be single forever, right Luke? Man, that's cold.
[He ruffles Luke's hair to reassure him and glances at the other Guy.]
Mind if I borrow myself a moment? Afterwards, I promise, we'll go do something fun. You can show us around if you want.
HAY GIRL
Also he's embarrassed. Bah. Trolled again.
But with that question, Luke looks up at him with some slight confusion.]
Borrow my... oh, right. [God, this is weird. Luke hesitates for a second before he steps to the side.] Yeah, sure. ... Just come back, okay? [He doesn't want to let either Guy out of his sight. Not after he just got him back.]
Oh please, Luke, Guy likes ALL the ladies. (also 1/2)
But hey. It's not every day you get to have a meeting with yourself, right...?
Regardless of how uncomfortable he's feeling, Guy gives a light shrug and walks forward, following the other blonde as they make their way off to chat in private. He takes a moment to turn towards Luke, a smile hitched onto his face.]
Don't worry. This shouldn't take too long, alright...?
2/2
Well, you got me out here alone. What's up?
[More importantly: what was so important about this that they had to be out of earshot from Luke?]
