fabrecation: (I swear I can be manly sometimes)

012 [Action/Voice]

[Ever since Bil/Catherine/whatever told him that the sword Guy lost would probably be returned, Luke checked the weapon shop every day in the hopes of finding it. The days he didn't find it were met with a disheartened sigh, half-hearted lingering to check out the rest of the weapons, then wandering back home. He remained hopeful, though, always diligently checking to see if it was there.

Today, however, Luke's efforts paid off. There, glittering on one of the displays, is the weapon he'd been looking for. He nearly sags with relief, and he grabs the sword before anyone can even think of taking it for themselves. He stays a little longer to see if everyone's doing okay with Sokka still at the draft, and then he heads home, sword in hand.

After all of that, Luke heads to his room and flops down on his bed, a little worn out from the day's events. He opens his journal, hoping to get to talk to at least one or two of the draftees whenever the Malnosso decide to return them to the hotel rooms.]

How's everyone doing out there?

[Guy stills when he sees the Jewel in Luke's hand. A cocktail of emotions bolt through his chest but he settles on relief after only a second or two, smiling softly, eyes still on the sword.]

...found that, did you?

[He'd thought he would never see it again. Had resolved to let it go.]

[Guy takes the Jewel, turns it over in his hands. Examines the way the blade and hilt gleam as if it had just been forged yesterday. Decades hadn't dulled the weapon in the least; it really was the prize of the Gardios family.

Then he tossed it to the side; it landed on the floor with a heavy clunk. Guy stepped over it and pulled Luke into a hug.]

I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

[It's because Guy knows Luke was guilt tripping himself that he did that. The Jewel is important to him, very much so...but Guy needs Luke to understand this.

Guy squeezes Luke before pulling back and holding him at arm's length.]

Luke, you're more important to me than any sword or any family legacy. I want you to understand that, okay? I want you to know it.

You are more important to me than being a Gardios is.

Haha! And for that, I'm grateful.

[Guy gives one of Luke's shoulders a friendly push before turning to retrieve the Jewel, examining it again with bright eyes.]

Though it wasn't your fault, it was mine. A good swordsman never loses his weapon, that's one of the first things Pere taught me.

No point in regretting what's already been done. You got my sword back for me, and all your organs are still inside your stomach. Everything's great.

[Guy throws his free arm over Luke's shoulders and shakes him a bit.] If you're still feeling guilty, you can help me with dinner to make up for it.

[Yeah, noticing that grimace.]

Hey. It wasn't that bad, I was just having fun with you. [Tugging Luke to the kitchen.]

You don't be so gullible. [SHOVE toward the kitchen, Guy turns to jog back to his room so he can deposit his sword.]

[Guy doesn't return the punch -since it's only fair- and drags Luke over to the counter.]

You still haven't told me what you want to eat.

[You're still moping.

Guy will give Luke some instructions to chop -he can't possibly screw THAT up, can he?- and some space before attempting to broach the subject.]

So what's wrong?

[Sure he's all right at chopping things. Swordsman and all.]

Oh, just wondering.

[LET'S JUST. Leave Luke to it then. If there's something wrong he'll stew in it until he finally cracks and spills the beans.]
