How do you get better faster if you're sick?

[It's worth noting that since Luke's voice is slightly hoarse and a little deeper from whatever he's infected with, he sounds just like Asch. Maybe slightly more raspy, but otherwise he's pretty spot on and doesn't even know it.]

... Damn it. [That is not what Luke wanted to hear. He's got so much to do! Going to school, practicing piano, training, seeing his friends...]

[Guy sees that restlessness and is about to put his stern face on- No. Luke -Asch, too- doesn't respond well to discipline and things like that. His father could shout at him for hours and not achieve half of what Susanne did just by being sincere. Guy would have to play this differently.

So he smooths the covers and sits at the edge of the bed, leaning forward to rest his elbows on his knees.]

Luke...please. If you do anything for me ever again, please don't leave until we get a doctor to say you're well enough. Please.

[And just as Guy predicted, that works much better than the route he might have taken. Discipline just makes Luke want to defy whatever was said against him, raising one's voice just makes him want to fight back. Calm sincerity always went much further with him.

He looks up at Guy as he speaks, then stares down at the bowl of strawberries. He hates being confined anywhere, but... Guy sounds so serious and worried that doing otherwise would just make him feel worse.]

[Guy smiles and reaches over to ruffle Luke's hair.] I know you hate it, so just bear with it until you get well and then you can run around like a lunatic for all I care.

[Mrrr. But... okay, he can manage a half smile.]

With a coat on, right?

If you don't wear your damn coat after this there's nothing left in there to salvage.

["There" being Luke's forehead, which Guy just flicked.]

[Luke makes a face at that, though he still lets that smile grow a little. Guy you're ridiculous, and Luke appreciates it.]

It's not like I didn't want to wear them...

I just gave them to people who needed them more than I did, that's all. [Pause...] And never got them back.

Who could have needed them more than you? Clothes are free.

People who returned from kidnappings. [Xion was out there with such a revealing outfit and freezing so much that Luke had to give her his coat, and Ion was practically bleeding to death and also freezing...]

But so that you know, a cough like that doesn't develop over the course of one day, or a few hours outside. You got that cough because you don't close your coat.

[Maaaybe he shouldn't tell Guy that he was in a sleeveless shirt while trying to help Ion, having given up both his jacket and the warmer shirt under that.]

Really? [Luke honestly looks like he didn't know that, which probably is the case, but then he lets out a groan and lowers his head. He's going to get scolded, isn't he? Uuugh. He'd normally defend himself, but he's just. Not in the mood.]

[Here, Guy, he's done with the strawberries and tea, so now Luke'll hand those over and ease down under the blankets again.]

[Guy piles up the dishes on the nightstand and tucks Luke into bed.]

Think you can sleep?

I want to. [Doesn't mean his body will cooperate.]

Don't worry. You'll sleep if you're tired enough.

[Of course he might get that tired because he keeps coughing, but that can't be helped.

Guy sits on the edge of the bed and rests a hand on Luke's hair.]

[Guy will probably feel that nice fever Luke's got going on, then. Luke himself just looks up at Guy - the hand in his hair is comforting, but he still has to ask.]

Am I going to be okay?

[Guy moves Luke's bangs back to see his face more clearly and gives him a gentle smile.]

Of course you are, because I'm looking after you.

[Luke still isn't really sure... But Guy has enough confidence for him, it seems, so he just gives a tired little smile and pulls his arm from under the covers to give Guy's arm a light bump of his fingers.]

Then I guess I don't have anything to worry about.

Damn straight you don't. You know how many years I've been doing this? I'm practically an expert now.

[Guy brushes his hair back again before standing and collecting the dishes.] So get some rest. If you still haven't fallen asleep when I check back in on you, I'll handle it.
