[... Whoa, really? The clattering stops for a second as Luke looks back at the journal.]

You would? I-I mean, if you want to, I... I guess I could use the help.

[Flatly:] You wouldn't have asked for help if you didn't need it.

[If he's with Asch, they must share the house. Now where did Asch live again...] House 5, yes?

[Luke flushes a little from that comment.] Y-Yeah, that's right.

[Sorry Luke, you don't get a reply. Noct just closes the journal and makes his way over to House 5. It only takes a few minutes for him to get there, and he's not going to bother knocking either as he opens the door.]

[Why yes, he did slap his hand over his mouth at that last part. It's definitely coming from the kitchen, too.]

[Well, the singing makes him easy to find, at least.] I hope you don't intend to sing the whole time I'm here.

[And the he sees the crime scene kitchen.] ...what are you trying to make?

[Luke looks back at him and... has to stare for a few seconds. He really does look like Sync.]

... O-oh, uh... chicken casserole. I think. [Because what he's mixed together does NOT look like it, and he was just about to toss it and start over when Noct appeared.]

[Noct doesn't notice the staring, he's too busy looking at whatever the hell Luke has created here.]

Do you even know what a casserole is? [Based on this? He's not sure that he does.]

Of course I do! Guy made it a few times for me when he was older! [Luke, that's not knowing what a casserole is. But hey, he's got a recipe book open to that page, so he totally knows what it is!]

[Even with the recipe book-]

Just because you had it once or twice doesn't mean you can cook it!

[Noct is now convinced Luke would have blown up the village if he hadn't shown up. Naturally this means Natalia's cooking would blow up the universe.]

I-I know! But the recipe looked easy, and... And I wanted to cook something other than sandwiches for them!

[Oh ye of little faith, Noct. Even though it's probably true. Luke flips through the pages of the book with a hint of frustration; if he can't make casserole, maybe they can make something else.]

[Sigh.] Just... pick whatever and I'll help you make it.

[Certainly he can't mess up with Noct watching over, right? ...or maybe he'll just take over completely if things start getting messy.]

Okay, okay. [Flipping, flipping...

... Huh.] How about this? [He turns the book around with it held open on this page.]

[Reading, reading... meat wrapped in meat? Sounds simple enough.]

Seems easy enough... The ingredients are fairly basic, so you should have them around. Get started on making the chili and sugar mixture. I'll chop the chicken.

[Note that emphasis: swordsman or not, Noct isn't letting Luke near any sharp objects when the man already seems incapable of using even a spatula properly. So meeean.]

[But he wanted to chop the chicken. :(]

Okay... [He's not really sure where this stuff is, so Luke spends some time to search around before he finally finds the stuff and gets started on stirring the sugar and chili together, and he tries very hard to make sure everything's the right measurement.]

[If you're a good boy, he might let you help cut the bacon. Noct peers over every so often to check how Luke's doing as he starts cutting.]

[The cuts are perfect, but the manner in which he does it... it's as though that chicken wronged him in some way. It's probably best not to ask where he learned to cut like that. He almost looks disappointed when he realizes he's finished.]

Think you can handle cutting the bacon? It needs to be the right size so it wraps around right.

[Eh, everyone has different styles of cutting their food, so Luke won't ask. He himself is usually way too slow in an effort to get it right. He's done with the stirring by the time Noct calls him to cut the bacon, and Luke turns with a grin as he's quite excited about that.]

Yeah, of course I can! [He heads over, grabbing an extra cutting board as he goes, and stands a few feet away from Noct. He doesn't want to get too close while holding a kitchen knife and all.]

[ffff Luke why do you looks so happy? It's just cooking, no big deal.]

[Noct clears a space for the second cutting board before fetching the bacon. Picking up one strip, he points out two spots along it before cutting, dividing it into thirds.] If you cut each piece just like that, they should be fine.

[Hey, Guy's usually the one to cook, and it's pretty fun when he gets to do it! Luke makes a mental note on where he should cut, then nods.] I can do that. [Luke isn't nearly as fast as Noct at this, since he wants to make sure that he's cutting in just the right spot. But he'll eventually get it done, and correctly too.]

[While Luke is cutting, Noct starts heating up the oven and searches for some toothpicks to assemble the food. He glances over at Luke.]

Like that, yes. Now you just need to wrap it around the chicken... [He picks up a piece of chicken and a strip of cut bacon, wrapping it before sticking the toothpick through both of them.] ...and use one of these to keep them together.
