[It felt like dying. It felt like being caught inside a large, ringing bell and being unable to escape.
It was something he walked into willingly. And yet as it was happening, he wanted to stop, and yet he knew that he couldn't. To stop would mean the deaths of millions of others, and what's one life compared to that many?
Nothing, nothing at all. But...
Then the ringing stopped, but Luke barely noticed. Instead he was falling, falling until he fell not onto the hard floor of the tower, but the soft earth of another world. He loses consciousness before he's even aware of that.]
[Later, he can be found at the clothing shop and the item shop to pick up some things, and after a run-in with Sync and Ion, Luke had briefly visited his old apartment before he decided that he just couldn't stay. He sits heavily by the fountain, bent over with his head in his hand while the other hand holds on tight to the only item she'd left him.
He's a little hesitant to do this, and it makes him glance at his journal a couple of times, before he makes his decision. He opens up his journal, turns on the video function, and - clears his throat awkwardly first.]
This is how it works, right...? [Ah, right. He glances away and runs a hand through his (shorter, more unruly) hair before he gives the journal his attention again.] Um, hey. My name is Luke fon Fabre, and - and I was here before. I think it was just last week? It was a lot longer for me...
So... I'm back? And I'm sorry for leaving. I guess that's all I have to say...
[Except it's not, and it's just as he starts to shut the journal that he remembers.]
Oh yeah - [And he throws up a hasty filter.]
[Locked to House 1 residents (Nephry, Jade, Tear, Anise, Florian, Ion)]
Hey, uh... do you guys mind if I stay with you for a little while? It doesn't have to be for long or anything, I just - I need to find another place to stay. That's all it is.

But there's relief, too, when she asks him that question. He lets out an exhale of his own, eyes shut, and gives a gentle smile. That's good to hear... as is her voice now, soft and happy and not at all desperate and despairing.]
Tear... thank you. Are you sure everyone's going to be okay with it?
[voice]
How are you feeling?
[voice]
[I'm alive when I shouldn't be. I'm happy I'm alive, but at the same time, I'm sad. None of the other replicas who gave their lives are here. Xion's gone, I broke down in her room, and all I have left of her is her ring. But I'm alive, and I've never been happier to be alive even if it hurts.]
... I feel kind of weird. A lot of stuff happened...
Re: [voice]
Still, a part of her is relieved that it wasn't so visible, like it had been the last time they spoke.] Do you want me to come to you? Anything, I wouldn't mind.
[voice]
He wants to see her, badly. And it's her offer that makes him realize it.]
... I'd really like that. I'm by the fountain right now - or we could meet halfway, or... something.
[voice] > [action]
She makes her way quickly toward the fountain, and when she spots the familiar red hair her lips form a small smile. He was really back.] Luke!
[action]
He couldn't do that, of course. But she's here, and she looks so much better off.]
Tear...
[Luke gets up to go to her, that smile turning into a grin as he gets closer, until it's enough to barely even stop before he wraps her up in the embrace he wanted to give before he was warped away from Luceti.
Everything's okay now.]
[action]
After a few moments, her expression softens into a true smile, though somewhere in the back of her mind she wonders what had just happened to him that he would be this way. There were a number of things she could think of, for now it didn't matter. He was here, real and warm and solid with his arms wrapped around her, a gesture she returns in kind as she rests her forehead against his shoulder.]
Welcome back. [I missed you.]
