Kingdom Hearts AU History

- In Radiant Garden, a ten year old boy was found washed up on the shore, seemingly without any memories whatsoever. Feeling pity for the boy, the king and queen adopted him and taught him as much as they could, chalking up his lack of memory as trauma induced. He learned together with Kairi, who was two at the time, and she too taught him some things, including how to walk and talk and, most importantly, sneak out of the castle. And though it was only two years, they were very happy.

- However, things fell apart when the Heartless that Xehanort created started to consume the world, leaving it in darkness. Kairi and Luke were being escorted out, seeing how they were the princess and prince, and they had to survive. But knowing that they were catching up fast and Luke was only slowing Kairi down, he let go of her hand and let her go one, while he was killed by the Heartless.

- Because of this, Luke was turned into a Heartless. Because of his strong heart, however, his memories stayed with him, although they were locked deeply away. For the time being, he was a blank slate, and he devoured hearts and spread darkness through other worlds.

- The Heartless survived for quite a while, and after some time, memories that weren't his own started to mingle. Memories of the castle, of the world, of the little princess - his little sister, and his friends, of his name. Gradually, the Heartless stopped going after hearts, and instead journeyed out to find his other half.

- As more time passed, his body started to morph. Instead of a simple shadow, it started to gain more humanlike features. By year nine, the shape that we all know as Luke would be what the Heartless would turn into, yet still covered in darkness. He didn't speak, and he barely made any noise. All he did, all he knew to do, was to gather as much information as he could on the Organization, their purpose, and what's happening to Sora and Riku as well as the other worlds. He learned from all of those interactions.

- Year 9 was the year he was caught. The Organization realized his presence and, because he knew far too much and his heart could help fuel their goal, they hunted him down. The Heartless fled for his life, for he didn't want to die.

- Year 10, Luke found himself strongly attracted to a certain world. It took some work, but he finally managed to get himself there - Destiny Islands. Unfortunately, he appeared in the ocean rather than the beach, and the moment he did, his body evolved further, influenced by the light of the Island. The darkness disappeared, and he looked like... well, a human, and almost how he used to be.

- He was washed up on the shore since he didn't quite know how to swim, and Kairi came across him. It was then that Luke realized why he was so attracted to the world - he vaguely remembered the girl, his sister, and not only that, but she was a Keyblade bearer. Recalling how people interact and what gets them to smile, Luke awkwardly introduced himself - more awkwardly than most, seeing how he never spoke before that. Kairi remained wary, but took the introduction and led him further to find him a place to stay, because the boy looked familiar somehow.

- A month passed, and Luke found himself settling comfortably. Though he didn't really have a heart, he had enough memory to pass emotions well, and he rather enjoyed the life of a human, safe from harm. Because of that, he never told Kairi of his origins, what he is and what he knows despite knowing how she connects to it, despite them becoming closer and closer friends.

- One day the two sat on the Paopu Tree to watch the sunset, and Kairi reminisced about her two best friends. Seeing the look on her face and knowing how much she missed them spurned Luke to finally reveal everything he knows, everything he is. Of course, Kairi was shocked. But she didn't seem frightened by him, and in fact, she asked him to take her to her boys. Luke was still afraid, still didn't want to die. But he slowly agreed to make Kairi happy, and because he knew this was the right thing to do. And... Kairi had said that somehow, she knew it was him, and she was happy to see him alive. That made him "happy" as well.

- The two traveled to different worlds with three objectives:
1. Find information regarding Riku and Sora or, even better, find them.
2. Avoid the Organization, seeing how Luke is still a huge target for them, yet still find some information regarding them as well.
They traveled to Port Royale, Atlantica (Kairi became a seahorse, while Luke became an octopus), the land of Tangled as well as Pocahontas' world, and Hollow Bastion. Because Kairi wields a keyblade and Luke is a Heartless, darkness would gather where they'd go, and it was up to them to free the world of it before it was consumed by it. Luke would realize, as this went on, that this truly was the right thing to do.

- Deep in Hollow Bastion, the Heartless led them into a trap. The Organization knew they'd be there, and they summoned many Nobodies to confront them. Luke knew he'd probably die there, while they'd do something awful to Kairi. After some time and a lot of fighting, the two were back to back, practically holding each other up as more Nobodies seemed to come. Seeing how hopeless this was, Luke summoned a portal, grabbed Kairi, and threw her in, despite her protests.

- Kairi was sent back to the Islands, while Luke was left for himself. He tried to fight, for he wasn't the type to just give up. But before the Nobodies overwhelmed him, another portal showed up, and a cloaked figured saved him. The figure left before he could say anything, and he was left at the very front of Hollow Bastion. The message was clear: "Get out of here".

- And so Luke left to gather himself, think about many things, and recover. He traveled on his own for a bit, before he realized that he needed a companion. He created a portal to Destiny Islands, though slowly since - well, who knows what Kairi thinks happened to him? And there, he saw Kairi get dragged away by Axel. He called out to Axel, which caused him to pause... before going through the portal anyway. Luke tried to chase after him, but he didn't get there in time.

- After that, Luke did his best to gather information and figure out where they took Kairi. It took a lot of risks, a lot of hiding, and but soon enough, he figured out that she was being held in a cell in The World that Never Was. With that in mind, he traveled there and, with more hiding and spying, he found the exact cell she was in. He created a portal there, probably scaring her to death, and dragged her through it, intending on going back to Hollow Bastion. Instead, he turns up in Luceti. Despite that, the two have an emotional reunion.

Differences

- Unlike normal Luke, Heartless!Luke has yellow eyes, the only thing that didn't change from his shift to a more human looking form. His outfit looks almost the same as the one he regularly wears, only Squarified instead, with quite a few zippers. In fact, his outfit looks a bit like Roxas', only with his own colors and, of course, a way to show his abdomen. He also looks older, about in his early twenties or so.

- Luke doesn't have a real heart, and thus he doesn't have the emotions that normal!Luke would have. However, he's derived much from his own memories of his old life and his study of interactions between others, so while he's more reserved and serious, he still has his happy, derpy moments.

- Instead of having replica issues, he now has Heartless issues, though he doesn't dwell on them as much as normal!Luke. Having no feels and all, he doesn't seem to dive down into depression when he wonders about his own existence. Still, the thoughts are there, and they do bother him to an extent. He just handles it differently.

- He now loves sea salt ice cream. 8|

- Luke still fights with the sword, though he manifests it from darkness, so it's much darker in color and shape. No holding it on him either, just summoning it up.

- He tends to observe much more than normal!Luke, as that's how he learns. He's much more studious, and he can get a bit spy/stalkerish when it comes to matters that relate to him or those important to him.
